Reportagen Magazin - “Laos” - 2 single-pages - June 2024

For the Swiss REPORTAGEN MAGAZINE I was once again able to contribute two illustrations! The article deals with the advantages and disadvantages of China’s railroad line expansion in the neighboring southeast-asian-country Laos, reports on corruption and residents who are being driven out of their homes because of the planned construction - and how Chinese tourism is coming to the country thanks to the new connection. Highly interesting and definitely recommended!

Für das schweizer REPORTAGEN MAGAZIN durfte ich mal wieder zwei schöne Illus beisteuern! In dem Artikel geht es um die Vor- und Nachteile des Bahnstreckenausbaus China´s im angrenzenden südostasiatischen Land Laos, es wird Korruption und von Einwohnern berichtet, die aus ihren Wohnungen vertrieben werden, weil dort gebaut werden soll - und wie der Chinesische Tourismus durch die neue Anbindung über das Land kommt. Hochinteressant und auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert!

Reportagen Magazin - “Kukes” - 2 single-pages - November 2023

It reports on the small town of Kukes, which is located in the north of Albania and whose population suffers from severe poverty. Under the impression of glorifying TikTok films by hip (and apparently rich) influencers, young people are increasingly fleeing abroad in order to build a better life there - the main destination is Great Britain. They accept the high costs of smugglers and dangerous routes - and often end up in forced labor by unscrupulous gangs who use them in illegal marijuana plantations. The dream of wealth, great Ferraris and a beautiful life is a long way off.

Es wird von der Kleinstadt Kukes berichtet, die im Norden Albaniens liegt und dessen Bevölkerung unter starker Armut leidet. Unter Eindruck von glorifizierenden TikTok-Filmchen von hippen (und anscheinend reichen) Inlfluencern, flüchtet die Jugend zunehmend ins Ausland, um sich dort ein besseres Leben aufzubauen zu können - Ziel ist vor allem Großbritannien. Sie nehmen hohe Kosten der Schleuser und gefährliche Routen in Kauf - und landen schließlich nicht selten in Zwangsarbeit skrupelloser Banden, die sie in illegalen Marihuana-Plantagen-Häusern einsetzen. Der Traum von Reichtum, tollen Ferraris und einem schönen Leben ist in weiter Ferne.
