"There was no welcoming culture in 1945" - I was allowed to contribute four illustrations for the SPIEGEL GESCHICHTE magazine “Lost Homeland”. The historians Gundula Bavendamm and Stefan Troebst talk about the fleeing of many Germans from the eastern territories as a result of the Second World War, how it happened and why integration was often difficult.
